The Quinte Quilters Guild held their show, "A Bouquet of Quilts", on May 3rd and 4th, 2008 at the Quinte Curling Club in Belleville, Ontario.

The OQC Rosette was awarded in the Viewers Choice - Wall Quilts category to Judy Garden for her 60" x 60" quilt named "Chantilly".

Of her quilt, Judy said, "After working on Camelot, which was a king-size quilt, I vowed that for a while I wouldn't work on anything larger than a good-size wall quilt - and it was time to work on colours other than the deep hues and high contrasts I liked to work with. I had used that pastel palette for a class I taught on one of the blocks from Camelot and really liked that soft look. It seemed naturalfor me to use those colours again for Chantilly. An added bonus in using a pale coloured background is that the quilting stitches show up extremely well and it became a feature of the quilt.

Editor's Note: Judy's quilt "Camelot" was a CQA winner for excellence at Quilt Canada 2006 in Ottawa, and it also won awards in Houston, Nashville and Lancaster. Camelot was a finalist in the $100,000 Quilt Challenge sponsored by a U.S. magazine. Judy specializes in the "recessed applique" technique. Judy also won the OQC Rosette in the Quinte guild's most recent show (2005) for her quilt "Deft Delft".
